The complex relationship between a wealthy French woman and her best friend a, gay black American, is thrown into turmoil when her estranged daughter comes to visit them with her new husband for the weekend in upstate New York. Through a series of drunken evenings and daytime squabbles it becomes apparent that no one involved is what they seem.

Martin, an African-American artist lives in up-state New York with Jeannette a successful French Writer. They live a simplistic yet idyllic life, to their neighbours they appear as the perfect romantic couple.

But appearances can be deceptive.

It is mid-winter, their beautiful country house is covered with snow and this picture postcard paradise is shattered by the unannounced arrival of Jeanette's daughter, Sierra with her new husband, Andrew. But this is a marriage of convenience. Sierra is due an inheritance from her late grandmother that can only be accessed once she marries. The plan is for the newly-weds to stay just long enough for Sierra to get her money and then leave, but Jeanette throws a spanner in the works when she announces a wedding reception for the blushing bride.

Secrets and lies are slowly revealed by this impromptu celebration.
