El Mar DVD - dir. Agustí Villaronga

Mallorca, 1936 and the Spanish civil war brings violence and death to local villages and communities. The bitter fighting and recriminations do not only affect adults but also introduces revenge and killing to the local children. Ramallo, Tur and Francisca witness a brutal murder and their lives are changed forever.

Ten years later, Francisca is a nun working in an all male tuberculosis santorim where Tur is an inmate. Ramallo is soon to join them and the horrors of the past soon come back to haunt them as those around them succumb to their illness and die.

The three young people approach their dilemma in different ways. Francisca carries out her duties and tries to protect her friends, Tur looses himself in religion and Ramallo tries to continue a normal life with dreams and stories of sexual conquest and attempts to make some illicit money, while being all too aware of the attraction that Tur and Francisca have for him.

As Tur's sickness worsens, his religious obession grows and so does his hidden desire for Ramallo.
