In the manner of his best-selling, award-winning book Out/Lines: Underground Gay Graphics From Before Stonewall, Thomas Waugh presents more historical, erotically charged drawings, depicting aspects of gay male sexuality that were once hidden from public view.
The 200-plus, never-before-published drawings in Lust Unearthed are from the private collection of Ambrose DuBek, a film and television designer from the 1940s to the 1980s. Dubek was a passionate advocate and patron of the arts who felt that life and the body were to be celebrated; the images from his collection are remarkably frank, explcit, sometimes funny, sometimes outrageous depictions of men, created by artists both famous and unknown, and produced during a time whe even drawings of nude men were illegal, and thus rare.
Waugh's narrative is a remarkable history lesson that illuminates a once-furtive underground culture. Gay porn for the thinking man, Lust Uncovered will beguile and arouse.
