Bondi Urban - Paul Freeman

Save £10.00

Sequel to the Bestselling BONDI CLASSIC. A chic hardbound, (240mm x 305mm) color & b/w collectible of Paul Freeman's most exquisite portraits and nudes of actors, sportsmen and models reproduced on quality art paper.

At Bondi in Sydney, the eastward growth of the city is halted by the Pacific Ocean. Here, the long white stretch of sand, made by the pounding surf, forms a break in Sydney's coastal wall of cliffs, to the very edge of which the cities' sprawl has rushed lemming-like. The cluttered point at North Bondi becomes an urban citadel when viewed from atop the cliffs to the south.

The young single man of Bondi, at his best, is fit and sporty, loves the beach and all it offers, has a cheeky irreverence for everything and a healthy willingness to have a go at anything. He's interested, if not involved, in contemporary cultural and liberal political dialogue, and loves art and music, as well as dancing and partying. He lives in an apartment or a ramshackle beach house, either in bohemian chaos or Spartan simplicity. He lives for socializing but is happy alone and outdoors, communing with nature. He's equipped with a spirit of self-discovery and self-expression, he's unselfconscious, and, whether gay, straight, bi, sexually exploratory or sexually ambivalent, is non-judgmental and accepting. He is, for at least the Bondi period of his life, free.

A more literal interpretation of the contemporary Australian male than Bondi Classic, this collection seeks to capture something of that spirit of freedom.

This book contains full nudity.

Hardback, 24mm x 305mm, colour & black and white.
